TAXI CARD FROM NEXUS

What is TaxiCard?
The TaxiCard scheme can help people with mobility difficulties travel independently.  It allows them to travel by one of our approved taxi companies at a discounted price.  Members get issued with a card which is credited with a set amount of money every year - they use the money on their card to help pay towards each journey they make.

The Oliver Curd Trust

They provide holiday accommodation to families affected by childhood cancer and other life-threatening and life-limiting conditions, including those experiencing bereavement. 

The Trust has two caravans:

  • A two-bedroom, 6 berth caravan at Crowhurst Park, Battle, East Sussex

Contact your local council to find out who issues disabled bus passes in your area as part of the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme. You’re eligible for a disabled person’s pass if you live in England and are ‘eligible disabled’ Click on the link for more information.

Virgin Trains

ASSISTANCE FOR TRAVELING WITH VIRGIN TRAINS - you can request help with train travel. Someone will meet you at your departing station and take you to the platform to help you with your luggage and help you onto the train and to the seat that will be reserved for you. If you are in a wheelchair they will use a ramp to get you on to an accessible carriage with a disabled toilet and wheelchair space but they will need the dimensions of your wheelchair. They will phone ahead to your destination station where someone will assist you from the train and off the platform. This service is provided free. Holiday Home Trust

The Trust has 8 caravans and one chalet at 7 UK locations.  All are accessible through some have showers with a 7" lip.

The caravans are located in Bognor Regis, Devon Cliffs, Filey, Great Yarmouth, New Milton, Paignton, Poole, and St Austell.

Garwood Foundation

They offer a fully adapted holiday caravan for hire which is located at Church Farm Holiday Park in Pagham, West Sussex. 7 night stays range from £100 to £700 depending on season time. For a quote please email holidayhome@garwoodfoundation.org.uk

Revitalise

This is a national charity providing short breaks and holidays (respite care) for disabled people and carers.

Revitalise’s centers provide 24-hour on-call care and personal support in a relaxed, holiday environment. 

The centers’ experienced staff can cater for around 150 different disabilities and, in addition to specialist nursing care, each guest is accompanied by a volunteer who provides companionship and support. 

There are also special weeks for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and their partners.
